Here’s two examples:
No. 1 – Love Yourself
So simple and yet we are so hard on ourselves. We intellectually may feel that we love ourselves. However, we often “beat up” on ourselves when we don’t get as much done as we think we should, don’t get the results we expected, or don’t live up to our demanding expectations. We so often chastise ourselves because we think we should be thinner, smarter, more professional, less angry, jealous, more successful, more creative, less tired, etc., etc., etc. Accepting yourself with your great assets, as well as your natural imperfections, will help to make your life easier, you more attractive to others, and better able to be more dynamically productive.
No. 6 – Boldly acknowledge your small and large accomplishments
Yes, you just completed that project you put off for so long, finally cleaned the attic or basement, acquired the new client you so fervently wanted. Now you’re ready for your next challenge. Wait a minute…where’s the celebration of what you just did? No wonder you are not feeling purpose or completion about the work you are doing. You are forgetting an essential step. Say it, and hopefully write down your accomplishment. Then give yourself a little reward. It can be a candlelit bath, coffee at the local bookstore with a good friend, that double-chocolate yummy special at the ice cream parlor, a nature walk, that cute pair of socks you had your eye on, etc. That’s the way to creating an appreciation of the value of what you do so that you can look with pleasure toward your next challenge.
